Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for the following term position:

French Elementary Literacy Teacher

Full Time Positions starting on March 27 to June 24, 2023

École ITLO, French Immersion School

 

This position consists of developing and strengthening student’s literacy skills and especially the reading strategies for immersion students. Minimum requirements and competencies for this position include: 

 

  • Bachelor of Education degree (in the process to obtaining it in 2023)

  • Eligibility for Northwest Territories’ teaching certificate

  • Have a good knowledge of children’s literature and reading strategies is an asset

  • Excellent skills in French (fluent)

  • Ability to communicate in English is an asset

  • Enthusiastic and ability to adapt to new situations

  • Current Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check

The salary for these positions ranges from 84 624 $ (5-0) to 135 917 $ (6-11) Salary is determined based on the number of years of post-secondary education and teaching experience. The teacher will also benefit of numerous professional development.   Transportation of the candidate will be paid or refund by the school board. 

Candidates must have an original acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) in place. The original VSC must be dated within 90 days of the date the application is received. This is a condition of employment, and must be in place prior to commencing work in any school.
