YK1 is seeking a full-time Inclusive Schooling Support Manager for the 2023/2024 school year. Candidates must have a Bachelor of Education Degree, NWT Teaching Certificate, a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, and several years of classroom and Program Support Teacher experience. Training in inclusive education theory and best practice would be an asset. French/English bilingualism would also be an asset.
In this District Leadership position, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative Education Services team that collaborates with others in the YK1 school system and with external partners and agencies. You will regularly develop and deliver training, participate in School-Based Support Teams, and support YK1’s Inclusive Schooling priorities directly in schools. This position works out of the District Office as part of YK1’s Education Services Department and will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Learning.
Job Description:
This position

exists to support school staff, students and parents while ensuring adherence to the Inclusive Schooling Directive
-
regularly liaises with outside agencies related to student support services
-
provides/coordinates staff development related to the development, documentation and provision of educational programming for all students, inclusive education best practices, specialized knowledge to support students with exceptional needs, and School-Based Support Team processes and procedures
-
works collaboratively with school administration and staff, as well as Education Services at the District Office

is supervised by the Assistant Superintendent of Learning and will work directly with the Regional Inclusive Schooling Coordinator (RISC) to ensure the funding provided for Inclusive Schooling is effectively used and consistent with the objectives of the NWT Inclusive Schooling Directive
The successful candidate will possess a(n):

deep knowledge of the Inclusive Schooling Directive

understanding of the various educational programs in the NWT, decision making processes and procedures, and best practice in writing plans to support programming

experience modifying and individualizing programming based on student goals, strengths, and needs

knowledge of current flexible instructional strategies and practices that support inclusive school community environments

experience using a wide variety of NWT curriculum
-
knowledge of utilizing class profiles to inform practice
-
understanding of the response to intervention model
-
understanding of universal design for learning and tiered support
-
experience working with students with complex needs
-
knowledge and understanding of district based assessments
-
knowledge and willingness to implement research based practices that support formative assessments

conference/meeting facilitation skills
-
ability to effectively collaborate with providers of support services (outside agencies)

Comfortability using government approved software for documentation and assistive technology to support and engage students and educators

Experience in educational leadership

Experience in team teaching and co-planning

Knowledge of Indigenous Language and Education

Commitment to ongoing professional learning for themselves and others
