Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for the following position:
Payroll and Finance Officer
YK1 District Board Office
Full-time position beginning January 2026
Excluded Position
The Payroll and Finance Officer works collaboratively in a team environment to ensure timely and accurate preparation of payroll and reporting of financial information. This role is responsible for the administration of the payroll system including monthly payroll, reconciliations and required legislated reporting. In addition, the position provides support in monitoring financial procedures, completing various accounting tasks and financial reporting functions.
The successful candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

Diploma in Business with a major in accounting;

Certification as a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or a willingness to become certified;

A minimum of three years experience processing a full cycle of payroll/financial accounting and year end audits;

Basic knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles);

Sound knowledge of computerized payroll and financial systems;

Strong knowledge and experience with computers, specifically Excel and Microsoft Office 365, and the ability to troubleshoot;

Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve;

Strong oral and written communication skills;
-
The ability to work as a positive team player with an ability to multitask;

Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet continuous deadlines and expectations;
-
Ability to work in fast paced environment;
-
Must be bondable.
