Early Immersion (JK-12), Intensive French (6),

Post-intensive French (7-12), Core French (1-8)

For any vacancies that may arise in the French Immersion, Intensive French and Core French programming.

We invite all Qualified French teachers in YK1 who are on Term Contracts and who are interested in continuing to teach in one of the YK1 schools in 2025-2026 to submit their applications by January 31st, 2025 (inclusive). Please also indicate the desired level(s) and subject area(s). Any applications submitted after this date will be considered during the next hiring round, which will take place in Spring, if necessary.

We also invite all Qualified French teaching staff on Indeterminate Contracts who are interested in applying for other assignments in the area of French Programming to submit a letter of interest outlining the grade levels/subject areas/school(s) that he/she might be interested in being considered by January 31st, 2025.

Candidates will be interviewed between February 17 and February 28, 2025.

Following the interviews, YK1 will offer contracts to the successful candidates for the 2025-2026 school year by March 14, 2025.

Starting the hiring process for French teaching staff earlier in the school year enables:

  • the School Board to fill positions as early as possible with internal employees and then to start hiring external candidates;

  • candidates on fixed term contracts who are selected to have a contract for the next school year rather than having to wait until June;

  • candidates who are not selected to start looking for a position outside YK1 as soon as possible.

Anyone interested in applying should indicate his or her interest in writing and send in an updated resume, where appropriate. In general, the update will consist of professional development activities undertaken and any participation in committees or major teaching activities.  Electronic applications only please to landon.kowalzik@yk1.nt.ca

Reminder:  the application deadline is 4:00 pm on January 31st, 2025.
