Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for the following position:
High School English Language Arts Teacher
Ecole Sir John Franklin High School
Grade 9 to 12
Full Time (100% FTE)
Term: January 28, 2026 to June 30, 2026
The teaching assignment for this position will include high school English Language Arts classes and a Career Life Education course.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Education Degree, a NWT Teacher Certification and :

An understanding of competency based education
-
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
-
Background in English, and/or experience teaching English at the secondary level
-
Understanding of universal design for learning
-
Understanding of backwards design
-
Understanding of triangulation of evidence of learning

Strong communication skills
